Hostels/Boarding Houses:
The hostels have dormitories and attached washrooms with hot and cold running water. Separate hostels are provided for boys and girls. Each dormitory is under the personal care and supervision of a Matron or warden who looks into every small need of the child including clothing, health, hygiene, cleanliness, laundry etc. The children sleep on bunkbeds and each child has an independent cupboard unit. The school provides the beds, but the parents are required to supply the bedding including mattresses. The washrooms have separate levels for baths and toilets to maintain the highest standards of hygiene and sanitation. Portable drinking water is provided in the hostel block. The Matron's quarters and a common room for recreation are attached to the dormitories.
Boarding Facilities
Students must be physically fit to derive the best out of the education imparted in the school. Since this is primarily a residential school and participation in all activities is compulsory, parents may be asked to withdraw the child if the child is not keeping fit. Any expenditure incurred on the child's health care is billed to the parent separately.
The school has a small infirmary/hospital where the children are admitted if they are ill or unfit in any way to stay in the dormitory. There is a qualified resident doctor as well as a nurse attached to the infirmary. Besides this the facilities of a well-equipped Primary Health Centre (PHC) and laboratory are available at Ayegun. For very serious or complicated cases the children are referred to specialists in Ayegun. In some cases, the parents are requested to take the children for specialized medical treatment.
Personal hygiene, especially for the younger children, is carried out by the assistant matrons and supervised by the Hostel Matrons. The teachers and matrons carry out a weekly medical and hygiene check-up of all children.
Dining:
Students sit at tables for 10-12 children with a teacher who supervises their meals. Three major meals are served along with mid-day milk and snacks, once in morning break and once again in the evening break. It is ensured that the diet is wholesome, nutritious, hygienic, and well balanced. Balanced meals are provided. The food is prepared under the strict supervision of the mess in-charge and the Bursar/Administrator. The menu is planned in consultation with a Food Committee consisting of students and teachers.
Tuck-shop:
A tuck-shop is available in the school where the children are permitted to buy tuck. Children are not permitted to handle money. The school ensures that all merchandise sold in the tuck-shop is approved by the concerned Head.
Clothing:
Uniforms - Parents are requested to buy the school uniform only from our authorized stockists. This ensures uniformity of colour, cloth and stitching to facilitate a good turnout of the children. Parents are free to purchase the rest of the clothing from anywhere. The boarding number, allotted to the child, is to be marked on all the clothing by embroidering at places that are not visible when the clothing is worn. The school will not be responsible for any losses if the marking on clothing is not done properly. At the end of every session, it is the duty of the parent to take away old, small, or worn-out clothing and replace it during the vacation. Civil Clothes - Only one pair of civil clothes is permitted. No expensive items and fancy clothes are allowed.
Losses - The school will not be responsible for losses of small clothing like handkerchiefs, undergarments, socks etc. and these are to be replaced by the parents every year. Parents are advised not to give the child any extra items like expensive clothes, watches, jewellery etc. as the school will not be responsible for the loss of any such items.
Toiletries:
The students provide toiletries like soap, shampoo, polish, toothbrush, comb, oil, paste, cream/Vaseline etc. The parents who wish to supply their own brand of toiletries may do so over and above the supply of the school at their own expense.
Discipline:
Relying more on affectionate encouragement to the students and keeping in tune with the modern concepts of psychological handling of children, it is the best endeavour of the school to inculcate the habit of self-discipline in the children. Corporal punishment is not permitted. However, it has to be understood that discipline, if imposed through 'Affirmative Measures', is done in the best interest of the child. To assist in maintaining a high standard of discipline and decorum in the school, we seek the co-operation of the parents. Therefore, the parents/guardians are requested to read and strictly abide by the rules and regulations of the School.
Birthday Parties:
Parents may ask the school to arrange for birthday parties for their children at extra cost. Those who wish to arrange it on their own are advised not to bring more than one sweet and one savoury item along with a cake either for the whole school or for the whole class. Parents are permitted to meet the child or wish their child telephonically on his/her birthday.
Outings:
Outings to nearby locations are arranged regularly class-wise. Special outings such as excursions are arranged for the students. Children get the opportunity to go to the Church or as applicable, on religious functions. Special outings are also arranged for children who excel in academics during their regular unit and terminal exams and also for those children who excel in Inter School activities.
Visiting Weekends:
The visiting weekends are those weekends when parents/guardians are permitted to visit their children and take them out as per the rules of the school. These visiting weekends are mentioned in the school calendar. The children are permitted to leave on the visiting weekend with the parent/guardian on the day the mid-term starts and are expected to return by on the day the mid-term weekend concludes. No parent will be permitted to meet the children on any other day as this disturbs the daily routine and smooth functioning of the school. Allowed a little time, children as a rule, comfortably settle down to life in the hostel. Therefore, parents of new students may not be permitted to meet the children for about six weeks following admission. This allows time for the child to get adjusted to the new environment. Phone calls (from parents only) for those who stay back during the visiting weekend are permitted.
School Telephone:
Parents may ring up the Head Teacher and inquire about their child at any time but children, as a rule, are not permitted to talk on the telephone to their parents.

It is a universal fact that in the overall ambit of life, a person armed with a good education is bestowed with an advantage in the quest for success. Whether it is a girl or boy, a "worthwhile" education is the most valuable present a parent can gift a child.
Money is immaterial, when it comes to the question of an admission to a 'famous' school and parents, to the best of their sense and ability, try to select the finest school for their children.
Every educational institution, we're sure, makes a sincere endeavour to provide, what is generally termed as 'quality education'.
More so, each school has its own definition of education and formulates its own unique methodology, work environment, ethos and traditions resulting in a vast variety of end products.
Positively, education is not teaching a child to just read, write and become proficient in Mathematics and the Sciences. This would surely make a person literate but not educated. Unfortunately, many schools in our country are not reaching far beyond making their children "literate". Are we happy and satisfied watching our kids, spend arduous and tiresome hours in tuition, burdened with the anxiety of producing mind-boggling academic results? As parents, we never sincerely contemplate and ask ourselves what we expect from our child's school. For most of us, it is solely academic proficiency in Board examinations which is synonymous to providing first-rate education. Or is the boast of producing an Olympic sportsman or a handful of national level players, providing excellent education? Then what is quality education?
Ordinarily, "all-round development of the child" is construed to be the primary constituent of a "good education" and this is generally accepted as academic competence coupled with personality development. Hence, a school providing an excellent academic environment integrated with a large number of sports and other co-curricular activities would very nicely fit the definition of a school providing good education.
Compared to a day school, boarding schools are far luckier to have the time, inclination, and infrastructure to do a lot more in the direction of all-round development. Children get ample opportunities to learn a lot more than just academics. A rigorous routine of physical training, sports, games, hobbies, and other co-curricular activities keep students extremely occupied. This well-knit schedule of activities adds to the personality development and smartness of the child and undoubtedly brings them much closer to having acquired an exemplary education. I'm sure all this is part of providing quality education, but I personally feel there is something more to it, which needs serious consideration.
Education has assisted the world to develop at a phenomenon pace. The world is moving very fast and people have little time for each other. Man has become extremely covetous and greedy. In these times of avariciousness, selfishness, deceit, corruption, intolerance, terrorism, riots, greed and cut-throat competition we need to ponder, search our hearts and introspect, as to whether we can proudly call our children "well educated". We are fast forgetting the moral and spiritual part of development. Schools rarely have a programme related to the teaching of "being good" as opposed to "being successful", We sure are succeeding in producing rich and "successful" human beings but may not be able to say as much for producing "happy" human beings. Our traditional teaching institutions (home, school and society) are failing miserably in producing 'good' human beings.
We are so involved in teaching children Physics and Chemistry that we have little time to teach a child to be good, honest, truthful, compassionate, and nice. Who is going to teach a child to be virtuous, honourable, selfless, righteous, benevolent, and kind? The qualities of being tolerant, understanding, and broad-minded, to respect all religions, to be unbiased in regard to different castes or creeds, race or colour have all been put on the backburner. The language of philanthropy, goodness, and love, need to be added to refraining from violence, resisting corruption, standing up for one’s rights, not bowing to tyranny and unfair persecution - in short, to be bold and fearless. To fear only God, to respect one's parents and elders, to be fair in all dealings, to respect the rights of others, to be modest and magnanimous, etc. The list is endless, and we can go on and on. To teach this we need time and effort. There are no books, there is no prescribed syllabus. The westerners, whom we take pride in aping, have failed miserably on this front. In today's modern fast-moving world, we too are failing in imparting 'high standards and value education to our children. We teachers and schools are the ones who need to shoulder this huge responsibility. Alongside parents, teachers must develop the inclination and find the time to teach our children these virtues. Are the teachers of today 'Gurus' in the real sense? Let us together pledge to inculcate in our children the true values of life. We need to be patient and understanding and spend time with our children.
We must teach them time and again the difference of right from wrong, to overcome evil with good, set examples for them to follow and by so doing we would have done far more than our duty. The aim of every institution must be to be able to achieve this objective. In a letter to his son's teacher the then US President Abraham Lincoln had written Teach my son that it is more honourable to fail than to cheat and pass. There can be no school without a society and no society without a school. Schools and parents together must join hands in imparting good "knowledge" to their children.
In this lies the strength of quality education and the true test of a Quality Institution. We would like to conclude by stating that, it is far better to have a son or daughter who is 'good' rather than extremely intelligent or well-groomed. If God showers your child with the combination of all three qualities brilliance, elegance, and goodness then you could not be any richer or luckier.
